Betty Lou Poulas McLellan, passed away on April 25, 2025. Born September 17, 1932 in Florence, SC, she was the the fifth of eleven children of James Arthur Poulas, Sr, a Greek immigrant, and Ethel Waddell Poulas. She grew up in Florence, SC and graduated from McClenaghan High School. Betty spent most of her adult life in Cayce, SC.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Holly Collins (Tom), Richmond Hill, GA, Melinda Ray Clement (Greg), Irmo, SC, and Terresa Kelly (Scott), Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Melissa Long (Chris), Stephen Ray (Kait), Justin Collins (Shannon Greene), Daniel Collins, McKenzie Kelly, and Bryson Kelly. She also has two great grandsons, Owen and Turner Long, to whom she was affectionately known as Grand-B. Betty is also survived by two sisters, Jeanette Jordan and Patricia Boykin of Florence, SC, and her many nieces, nephews and extended ‘Poulas’ family.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her grandson, Bradley Ray; husbands, Robert L. Hodges, Bobby McLellan; companion, Roy Floyd; three brothers, Charles, James, and Kenneth Poulas; and five sisters, Katherine Poulas, Yvonne ‘Von’ Sauls, Vangalier ‘Van’ Nitz, Marie Shirley, and Ellen Poston.
Betty loved flowers and grew a beautiful garden. Betty loved spending time with her family at the beach and visited multiple times a year. She enjoyed trips with her sisters and her husbands. They traveled many places through the years. She was a member of Cayce United Methodist Church and enjoyed the fellowship and friends she made there.
Funeral services will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home in Lexington, SC on Monday April 28 at 11 am with the Reverend Wes Church officiating. The family will receive friends at 10 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow in Woodridge Chapel, Corley Mill Road.
