Bertha Louise Hill Chavis

Pelion-Bertha Louise ( Hill) Chavis, 72, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021.  She was born on January 20, 1949 to the late Robert and Dorothy Hill.  She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Tommy F. Chavis; daughter, Valerie Lanier; sons, Henry Lanier, Chis (Angela) Chavis, and Robert (Jackie) Chavis.; brother, Daniel Hill; sisters, Lynn Hill and Wanda (Bill) Baughman;  11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.   She was predeceased by her brother, Rogers Hill.

Louise was a strong and independent woman, devoted wife and loving mother whom has always worked hard all of her life to help provide for her family.  She was the kind of woman who was not afraid to speak her mind and say what is needed to be said whether you liked it or not.  Her family was very important to her and was always involved in what was going on around her.  She loved the outdoors, whether it be tending to plants, flowers, fishing, camping, or just enjoying nature.  She also loved cooking and seeing her family enjoying a country home cooked meal.  She will be loved and greatly missed by all and never forgotten by anyone whose life she has touched.  

A graveside service will be held 11am Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Oaklawn Cemetery, 1200 Pine Street Pelion, SC 29123 with Pastor Grover Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Monday, March 29, 2021 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel 609 Northwood Road Lexington, SC 29072.
