Barbara Esbensen (Gwiazda) Obituary

Lexington - Barbara E. Esbensen (Gwiazda), 73, entered peacefully to her heavenly home with her family by her side on Sunday, August 23, 2020.  Born on November 24, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Helen Gwiazda.

Barbara was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a proud Babci, title referred to her by her grandchildren, meaning grandmother in Polish.  Her greatest passion was spending time with her family, especially when it came to playing cards and putting puzzles together.  She loved with her whole heart, and never met a stranger.  Barbara was known to put others before herself no matter what the situation, selfless in every way.  She lived life to be happy, and always had a smile.  To know her is to love her.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Edward Esbensen; her children, Cindy McMahan, Denise (Kyle) Snyder, Scott (Tina) Esbensen, Jon (Amanda) Esbensen, and Valerie Esbensen (Dusty Gosnell); grandchildren, Peyton, Cameron, and Landon McMahan, Dalton and Tanner Snyder, Ava, Reid, Skylar, Chloe, Sosie, Sullivan, and Noah Esbensen; sisters, Theresa (Bruce) Beaver, Sister Helen Marie Gwiazda, OSF, and Dominic (Kathy) Gwiazda; and many nieces and nephews that were loved tremendously.  She was predeceased not only by her parents, but siblings, Stanley (Terry), Henry (survived by Helen), and Reverend Francis Gwiazda.

Barbara was Godly, and an incredibly strong woman.  Her legacy to her family will forever live through God’s amazing love and grace. She was an example to all who knew her and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.  We look forward to the day we will be reunited in Heaven.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to the Covid ICU at Lexington Medical Center.
