Archie T. Goodwin, Sr.

-Archie T. Goodwin, Sr., 71, of Gaston, SC succumbed to COPD and Lung Cancer at the comfort of his own home surrounded by his children on Saturday May 16, 2020.

Mr. Goodwin was born in Gaston, SC to Wiley James Goodwin and Minnie M. Goodwin (Dowd). He was raised in the area and worked for many years in the Brick Masonry field. He was a skilled mason. He enjoyed reading his Bible and studying God’s word and sharing it with anyone who wanted to listen. He had the gift of making music. He loved to sing and play the guitar and mandolin.

Mr. Goodwin is survived by his daughters, Jacquelyn “Rosie” Starnes and Janie Goodwin and his son Archie T. (Stephanie) Goodwin, Jr. and seven grandchildren Taylor, Alieysa, Tanna, Kaylan, Alexis, Jesse, and James. Two great grandchildren Tegan and Grace. Sisters, Pamelia “Diana “ Goodwin, Elizabeth Collins, Sharon Crenshaw, Bonnie Goff, Sandra Ayers, Cathy Wilson, Myrna Curtis, Barbara Thompson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by two brothers Robert L. Goodwin and Charlie J. Goodwin and by his parents Wiley James Goodwin and Minnie Goodwin.

No Formal Funeral Services will be held but Mr. Goodwin’s final arrangements will be handled through Barr-Price Funeral Home in Lexington, SC. Mr. Goodwin had expressed a wish to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a future date due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Family will be contacted with this information.

“Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust”. His ashes will be placed in the cemetery at First Baptist Church in Gaston where many family members have been laid to rest.
