Andrew Brian Bigony

Our beloved husband, father and brother, Andrew Brian Bigony, departed this life Friday, September 17, 2021. Andrew was a three-year bone marrow transplant survivor.

He was a member of Broadacres Baptist Church for over 41 years. He served as a deacon (past chairman), Brotherhood Director, Sunday School teacher, committee member and was also a sound technician. Andrew had a great love for music and participated as a soloist and member of the Sanctuary Choir. During his early adult life he was a sound technician for the bands Mama’s Home Cooking and Second Nature.

Andrew was employed by the State Archives (1978 – 1986), the University of South Carolina (1986-2007) and the County of Lexington as the Records Manager (2007 to present). He was the current president for the SC Public Records Association. In 2018, Andrew was appointed to the State Historical Record’s Advisory Board by Governor McMaster.

Andrew was a member and Past Master of Sinclair Lodge 154, a 32o Scottish Rite Mason, a member of York Rite, Knights of St. Andrew and Square and Compass.

Andrew was born on November 28, 1958 to the late Raymond Richard Bigony and Betty Doris Lovett Bigony. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Paul Bigony; his daughter, Amanda Bigony Harris (Ryan); son, Adam Paul Bigony (Jillian); his precious grandchildren, Ellis Paul Harris and Adeline Marie Bigony; his twin sister, Delphine Bigony and sister, Pamela Bigony Mack (Glenn); and many cherished nieces and nephews. Andrew will be greatly missed by his family and friends that loved him.

The family of Andrew Bigony would like to thank nurse Sarah Lawson. She not only took excellent care of Andrew, but also ministered to his wife and other family members with loving and compassionate care, helping us through the process of saying goodbye to Andrew. We are forever grateful to Sarah.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC.

Memorials may be made to Broadacres Baptist Church (2350 Taylor Road, Cayce SC 29033) to the Building Fund, Bereavement Committee, Music Ministry or Audio/Visual Fund.
