Albert Wilson Davis, III Obituary

Albert Wilson Davis, III, known to most as Al, Bo, or Pop, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 from complications due to a fall and stroke. Born on February 25, 1940, to Albert W. and Helen Y. Davis, Al dedicated his life to his loving wife of 62 years, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Al served  in the US Air Force and later served his community as a Major with Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Al also loved coaching softball and baseball, while being an active member of his church, Grace Chapel Community Church. Throughout his life, Al earned several awards and accommodations including: LCSD’s Deputy of Year, and elected to the SC USSA Hall of Fame. Al enjoyed several trips with various softball and baseball teams to state, region, and world tournaments.

Al is survived by his devoted wife, Susan; his children, Jeff, Julie Brown, and Jay; as well as 10 grandchildren, Zachary (Casey), Tori Delk (Jared), Devin, Jarrett (Payton), Jillian, Sawyer, Nicholas, Cordell, Dalton, Mylie, and great-grandchildren Abigail, Hartley, and Jackson. Also surviving are his brother, Claude Davis, brother-in-law, Bill Jennings (Darla), sister-in-law, Jerri McGehee (Jim) along with a niece and 4 nephews. Al was predeceased by his parents, sister-inlaw, Carolyn, and son-in-law, W. Kelly Brown, Jr.

The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Lexington Medical Center for their care of Al.

A memorial service to celebrate Al’s life will be held Monday, April 1, 2024, at 3:00PM, at Grace Chapel Church, located at 663 Dixiana Road, West Columbia, SC 29172 with a visitation immediately following the service. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Grace Chapel Youth Fund, or the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation at PO Box 303, Lexington, SC 29071.
