Albert Boyd Hornsby, 94, of Lexington, SC, passed away on, March 4, 2026 in Lexington, SC.
Born on February 29, 1932 in Richland County S.C., Albert was the son of Burrell Hornsby and Oneida Virginia Branham. Albert married Elizabeth Carnell (Nell) Williams 75 years ago in Swansea, SC. Their marriage took them to many SC cities including Orangeburg, Greenville, Charleston, and Columbia.
He attended Columbia High School and spent many years working for Southern
Bell (AT&T) as well as serving a tour in the US Air Force. He was known for his love of children, as well as sports, spending much of his youth as a baseball player.
Albert is survived by his sisters, Margaret Edwards, and Janet Boggs; his children, Daniel (Mary), Ronald (Sandra) and Pamela Duffey (Victor); his grandchildren, Christopher Hornsby (Trina), Lisa Cole (Kory), Aspen and Wesley Cole, Josh (Kaitlin) and Nick Duffey (Chelsea), Andrew and Benjamin Hornsby (Rachel); and great grandchildren, Charlotte, George and Julia Hornsby; Emma McKnight, Aubrey, and London Duffey.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Nell) Williams; his brother, William (Bill); and sisters, Betty Phillips, Faye Ann Hipp, and Ruby Kelly.
Funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, March 7, 2026 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family will arrangements.
