MSGT Thomas J. Park, USAF (RET)
Lexington-Thomas Jefferson Park, 83, went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 11, 2018 after an extended illness. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on August 16, 2018 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Burial will take place at Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia after the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on August 15, 2018 at Barr-Price Funeral Home. Tom was born in White Plains, North Carolina on July 15, 1935. His family moved to Washington D.C. and then to Hollywood, Florida where he graduated from Broward High School. While living in Columbia, S.C., he met and married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Dennis. The couple celebrated sixty one years of marriage on June 15th. They lived in Hollywood, Florida until Tom joined the Air Force in 1960. He proudly served his country and retired after 22 years. After retirement from the Air Force, he started a second career as a tax accountant and bookkeeper. He was the owner of S&P Tax service in Columbia, where he worked until 2014. Tom was a life member of Acacia Masonic lodge number 94. He and Joyce enjoyed traveling to craft shows where he sold airplanes that he made by hand out of soda cans. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lexington and a former member of First Baptist Church of Lexington and Grace Baptist Church. Tom is survived by his wife, Joyce Dennis Park and daughter Vicky Park Caldwell and her husband Andrew Caldwell. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Haley Caroline Caldwell and Hannah Reid Caldwell, brother and sister in law, Larry and Joyce Dennis, and two nephews Larry and Greg Dennis. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Thomas Park and Ila Park Swengel, and two sisters, Tae Marlow and Eleanor Serena. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Oakleaf Village of Lexington, National Healthcare and Carroll Campbell Place who provided loving care to Tom during his illness, and also to MSA Hospice who cared for him in his final days.
