Robert H Moore, Jr.

Bob passed away peacefully on May 20, 2018. Born in New York City, he was the only child of Robert Hartwell and Elizabeth Russell Moore.  He spent his childhood in Muncie, Indiana and graduated from Ball State University, followed by a graduate degree in journalism from Iowa State University.

Bob is survived by his spouse Betty, and children, Robert Thomas Moore, Marcia Lynne Rowse, Natalie Jean Moore, and Craig Allen Moore (Anne), and step-daughter, Jennifer Waszazak, as well as seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great grand-children. 

His vocation was journalism, broadcasting, and public relations.  He spent his career at several television stations including New Orleans, Louisiana and Jacksonville, Florida before coming to South Carolina.  During the ‘70s, Bob was the Public Relations director for the Sea Pines Company, Hilton Head Island, SC.  After Hilton Head, he moved to Columbia where he joined the parent company of WIS-TV in Human Resources/Recruiting and later retired as the News Anchor for Columbia ABC affiliate/WOLO-TV. 

Bob enjoyed bridge and hunting, was an avid fly fisherman, and a gourmet cook.  During his later years, Bob was dedicated to his schnauzers – the mini, Bert, and the giant schnauzers, Hedy Lamar and Caesar, who went with him everywhere!!  

A memorial service will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home in Lexington on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 2pm with visitation immediately following.
