Robert (Bob) Evans

On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Robert (Bob) Evans and his beloved wife, Madeline, went home to be with their Lord. Bob was born on November 27, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to Alan and Edna Evans.

He and Madeline were married on July 22, 1961 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, New York.  They raised two daughters, Marleen and Marsha, in Northport, New York. Bob worked for 42 years at the New York Stock Exchange. He was a Sunday School teacher and home fellowship leader for many years at Northport Baptist Church. After retiring to Bergton, Virginia he became active in the Ruritan Club and continued his ministry as a home fellowship leader at Cornerstone Church in Broadway, Virginia. For the past several years Robert lived in Blythewood, South Carolina near his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended Sandhills Community Church where he served as an elder and small-group leader. Bob loved to study the Bible; and it was his passion to share the Gospel with others and minister the love of Christ to those he met. In his neighborhood he served on the community lake committee of the home owners association. Bob enjoyed the wonder of God’s creation and spent time gardening and bird watching. He always had a joke to share and went out of his way to make people feel welcome. Bob will be missed by many in his family, church family, neighborhood, and community.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Alan, his mother Edna, and his brother Lee (Joyce). He is survived by his daughters, Marleen (Gary) and Marsha (Erik), his brother David (Karen), his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Both he and his wife will be celebrated during a memorial service on December 8th at 2pm at their church, Sandhills Community Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Please address any gifts to the community benevolence fund at Sandhills Community Church in lieu of flowers.
