Robert Neil Cowden

Robert Neil Cowden, 89 years old, from Gilbert, SC passed into his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.  Robert was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 1st, 1929 to Clara Frances Loyd Cowden and Earl M. Cowden.  He is predeceased by four brothers: Ralph, Richard, John and Merle and first wife Georgene. He is survived by his wife Alice Rose Cowden, of 32 years, and daughters from his previous marriage: Michele Golden (John), their children Erin and Greg; and Gina Fontanesi (Tom) and their children Jen and Michael and by his step children:  Becky (Tim) LeMoine; Michael Cox (John) of Charleston; Jennifer (Sanjay) Patel and their children Andrew and Matthew.  He is also survived by his sister Eleanor of Greenville, SC.

Bob, as he was known to family and friends, loved life so much that he never missed an opportunity for new adventures. As a young man, Bob took pride in that he was the youngest employee at the theatre in Ordway, Colorado when Gone with the Wind debuted.  He went on to work at Chrysler for 35 years and was able to see a large portion of the United States with that career. After retirement, Bob hosted charity golf tournaments for Chrysler where he enjoyed his three great loves: Chrysler, golf and his beautiful wife Alice.  Bob also enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, traveling, enthusiastically supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers, and target shooting.  He also treasured lifelong friendships made from his travels around the country.

 The family wishes to thank the techs, nurses and staff at Amedysis Hospice.

Services for Robert Neil Cowden, 89, of Gilbert, will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
