Mildred (Cockrell) Montgomery

CHESAPEAKE, VA - Mildred Cockrell Montgomery passed away at The Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach VA after a brief illness, Friday, August 18, 2017. Born in Batesburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Dee and Connie Cockrell. She was predeceased by her husband, Claude Montgomery, her sister, Betty Joyce Cockrell, infant son, Claude, and her daughter, Olivia Noble. Survivors include her daughter, Claudia Soniak and her husband, Michael, seven grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Mildred grew up in Batesburg, SC, but she also called Charleston, SC, Rock Hill SC, and Asheville, NC home before settling in Chesapeake, VA to be near her daughter. She was very active in each of these communities. She never met a stranger and was always willing to share her time and talents with anyone she met. A celebration of life memorial will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Batesburg Leesville, SC, Aug. 26, 2017, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society
