Melvin “Ken” Loging passed away on December 1, 2017 in Lexington, South Carolina at age 69 from pancreatic cancer. Ken is survived by his wife Sheryll Brown Loging of Lexington SC, his eldest son Brian (Beth) of Columbia, TN, his son Brent of Lexington SC, his son Melvin Kenneth Loging Jr. and his daughter Marie of Lynn, MA, his grandchildren Hunter and Madalyn Loging of Bamberg, SC, his sister Patricia (Alan) Bunch of Columbia, SC, his brother Richard Loging (Mary) Loging of Charleston, SC. He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mildred Loging of Columbia, SC.
Ken was born on March 10, 1948 in Mooresville, North Carolina and graduated from Dentsville High School, Columbia, SC, in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged he worked for The Associated Press for over 30 years, retiring in 2008. Following retirement he was employed by Lexington School District One as a bus driver until 2016.
Ken and Sheryll were married in 1976. He also began the Boy Scouts of America program, Troop 175, at Columbia First Church of the Nazarene. He received the Church of the Nazarene Distinguished Service Award for his 20 plus years of service as the sound engineer at Columbia First.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
