Madeline Evans
On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Madeline Evans and her beloved husband Robert, went home to be with their Lord. Madeline was born on June 10, 1942 in Queens, New York to Frank and Birdie Damaso. She and Robert were married on July 22, 1961 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, New York. They raised two daughters, Marleen and Marsha, in Northport, New York. Madeline was a homemaker and devoted herself to raising her daughters and grandchildren. She also provided childcare to many other precious children. She was a Sunday School teacher, Pioneer Girl leader and home fellowship leader for many years at Northport Baptist Church. After retiring to Bergton, Virginia she continued her ministry as a home fellowship leader with her husband at Cornerstone Church in Broadway, Virginia. For the past several years Madeline lived in Blythewood, South Carolina near her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended Sandhills Community Church where she served as a small-group leader. Madeline enjoyed gardening, crafting and spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughters. She loved singing and always had a song to share. She gladly opened her home to others for meals, games and fellowship. She will be missed by many in her family, church family, neighborhood, and community. Madeline was preceded in death by her father Frank and her mother Birdie. She is survived by her daughters, Marleen (Gary) and Marsha (Erik), her sister Gwendolyn (William), her brother Frank (Jeanne), her five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Both she and her husband will be celebrated at a memorial service on December 8th at 2pm at Sandhills Community Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Please address any gifts to the community benevolence fund at Sandhills Community Church in lieu of flowers.
