Laura Lee “Lala” Turner Parcenka Hodges, daughter of late William Maybin Turner and Laura Inez Cook Turner joined heaven September 10, 2019 after a courageous fight with mental illness and failing health. Laura was the sunshine in the room, loved by many for her giving heart and infectious smile. She was always looking for ways to help someone through gifts of baking or devoting her time. Laura ran an in home daycare for over 30 years and invested much of herself to those children she loved so deeply. Her “Munchkins” were her life. She was a wonderful, intelligent, creative, Christian woman who enjoyed gardening, traveling and hospitality.
She is survived by her Devoted Husband of 30 years, William H. Hodges Sr.; children, Nickolas (Michelle) Parcenka, Julie Dawson, Bill (Julie) Hodges, Amanda (Jeff) Wickman; siblings, Bill (Dana) Turner Jr., Linda Logan, Ross (Debbi)Henderson; grandchildren, Dillon and Isabella Parcenka, Jacob (Melissa) Dawson, Zeb (Beth) Dawson, Suzannah Dawson, Will Hodges, Owen, Ethan and Julia Wickman; great grandchildren, Lily Dawson, Lily Green and Jace Dawson and many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Kimberly Turner Cagle.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Saturday, September 21st , 2019 at Dunn’s Chapel United Methodist Church 281 Chapel Road, West Columbia, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm in the fellowship hall prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Dunn’s Chapel United Methodist Church in her honor. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
