Joseph "Joe" Seegars, Sr.

James Joseph Seegars, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 27 at the age of 76. He lived a life of service to his family, community and country and did so with love and an abiding faith.

Born in Kershaw County, he graduated from the University of South Carolina and spent the majority of his adult life in Columbia. Joe spent almost all of his career in the home furnishings industry and ran his own business for several years before his retirement.

He served his country in the South Carolina Air National Guard for a number of years and enjoyed both fellowship and service to others as a member of North Lake Sertoma Club. Joe was an avid Gamecock fan.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eloise DuBose Seegars, his son, James Joseph Seegars, Jr. (Pam), and two grandchildren, Gretchen and Henry. His friends and family will remember him for his kind and gentle spirit.

There will be a private graveside service for family at a later date in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, an area in which Joe loved spending time both growing up and as an adult.
