Jerome “Jerry” Lavenia, 79, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019. Born December 11, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Paul Frank Lavenia and Mary Dimaria Lavenia.
Mr. Lavenia served three years in the US Army as a paratrooper. He later went on to work and retire from Budweiser of Columbia after 27 plus years. Jerry, or to some, “Chico”, enjoyed gardening, however, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather; some of the greatest memories centered on family dinners and cookouts.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Paul E. Lavenia, Christopher J. Lavenia (Lauren), Anthony F. Lavenia, and Joseph M. Lavenia; grandchildren Jerry David, Brandon Michael, Dalton Joseph; great granddaughter Lisa Alexis “Lexi”; sisters Linda Passalaqua (Frank), and Paula Hess (Kenny). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years Barbara Jacqueline Coker Lavenia; and daughter Lisa M. Lavenia.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia. The family will greet friends Monday, January 7, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
