Born in 1934 as Sung Jin Roh in Korea, “Jeannie” met her future husband, Samuel DeLoach, who was serving in the Army. Samuel and Jeannie married and settled in Saluda, his home town. Jeannie spent her work life as a seamstress until retiring early, as they began to enjoy occasional state-side travel. She was a member of Saluda Baptist Church, often contributing her skills to create charitable items. She was a self-taught artist who created prize-winning paintings, and had a talented eye for painting scenery from photographs or puzzle box tops. Jeannie was a fiercely hard-worker, in the home and in the yard, enjoying gardening in her free time, as well as fishing with Samuel at Santee.
Surviving are four sisters and one brother of South Korea, her children, Alene DeLoach (Pete) of Hilton Head Island, Teddy DeLoach (Lynette) of Batesburg, Tammy Burgess (Earle) of Leesville, and Thomas DeLoach (Melissa) of Batesburg; grandchildren, Zack, Austin, Nathan, Jacob, Bryanna, and a great-grandchild Bryson, all from the Batesburg-Leesville, Saluda, and Columbia areas. She was predeceased by her husband Samuel, her mother, father, and one sister from South Korea.
