Janice Rose Kennington

Janice Rose Kennington, 72, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019. Born November 14, 1946 in Kenosha, WI, she was a daughter of the late George Joseph Wilkinson and Silvia Teresa Schweiger.

Ms. Kennington devoted her life to helping others working as a CNA. At the time of her retirement, she was working at Oak Leaf Retirement Village. Ms. Kennington gave her heart and soul to those she cared for and truly enjoyed bringing comfort to others.  Her greatest joy and love was her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her pets, whom she loved like her children.

Survivors include her daughter Kristine Troutman (Bernard); grandchildren Carmen McWaters (Andrew), Julia Podzon, Samantha  Bruner (Avery), Robert Winters, Michael Schwarz (Terri); great grandchildren Chelsea, Gabriel, Parker, Sylvia, Carl, Anna, and Noah; sisters Shirley Place and Debbie Trimmer; along with a niece and two nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Kennington, and infant son Mark Herrmann.

A funeral service for Ms. Kennington will be held 4 pm, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, 609 Northwood Rd., Lexington, SC, 29071. The family will greet friends following the service from 6 to 8 pm at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. Interment will be held 1 pm, Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC, 29229. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home for the family to receive.
