Janet "Reinke" Beattie Obituary

Janet Mary (Reinke) Beattie, 79, died November 15, 2019. She was born February 2, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Paul E. Reinke and Mary Drake Reinke. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Robert J. Beattie (Col USA ret), daughters Anna E. Luna, her husband Carlos and daughter Jezsi of Dallas, Texas and Amy R. Amick, her husband Tommy of Irmo, SC; Grandson Wm. Nicholas Beattie (son of Amy), his wife Magan and their children, Alexa and Benji; and brother Don E. Reinke, of Savannah, Ga.

Early in her career she was a professional dancer. She graduated from Kansas State University where she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. Janet was a proud military wife and mother who often mentored younger military wives. An avid traveler who was interested in language and culture, she and Robert explored the world together, including a 3 year assignment in Japan. She had a passion for genealogy and wrote and spoke on family and regional history. Other interests included dollhouse miniatures, garden club and photography.

Following cremation Janet will buried in a private ceremony in Wamego, Kansas. Barr-Price Funeral Home Crematorium, Lexington Chapel are assisting the family.
