Jackson L. Skipper, 91, of Columbia, SC died Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Dorn VA Medical Center, Warriors Walk. Born October 3, 1927, in Rockingham, NC, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Ida Lee Skipper. He was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Doris A. Skipper. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Gloria (Vernon) Pritchard as well as his brother, Charles Lloyd and his sister, Rena Mae.
He retired after 27 years from a decorated career in the U.S. Air Force, having served very patriotically in the Vietnam war and at numerous bases around the world. After his military career he worked over 19 years with Richland County School District as a bus supervisor at Eau Claire High School.
Jack is survived by children; Charles (Sarah), Ronald (Linda); Jack, Jr., Lisa Bunch and Amanda (Thomas) Smith. He is also survived by numerous grands, great-grands and great-great grand children.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington, SC. The service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Richard Coleman with burial immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetery, Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. Please gather at the graveside for the burial.
