Helen Lindler Porter Buff, 79, of West Columbia passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on August 11, 2017. Helen was born November 12, 1937 in West Columbia, SC to the late Annie Mae Shealy Lindler and Void Willard Lindler. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jack Porter and her grandson SGT. Chris Porter.
Helen had a profoundly caring personality and was willing to help anyone in need. Helen worked as a Nursing Assistant throughout the Midlands area. She was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, Minnie Shull Circle and Hands of God SS Class.
Helen is survived by her current spouse, Marshall Buff, a sister, Betty Scott (Victor), brothers, O'Neal (Kathy) and Ronnie Lindler (Sybil), children, Charles Porter (Robin), Thomas Porter (Cheryl), Kathleen Porter (Jason), Ricky Porter (Beth), and Larry Porter (Diane), grandchildren, Lynn, Denise, Daniel P., Brittany, Keri, Russell and Daniel D., 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel Monday August 14, 2017 from 6-8pm. Services will be 11:00am Tuesday August 15, 2017 at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Billy, Chuck, and Jamie Hawley, Travis and Tracy Lindler and Eddie Porter. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Minnie Shull Circle and The Hands of God SS Class. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Hebron UMC Building fund.
