Harry "June" Derrick Obituary

Harry "June" Derrick, 93, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019. Born on January 7, 1926, he was a son of the late Walter Harry Derrick and Alma Drafts Derrick.

"June", as he was known by his family and friends, was a WWII Army veteran having served under General Patton. June went on to work for Richtex Brick, then General Electric, which later became Phillips Components, and MepCo in Irmo, until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid Gamecock and Atlanta Braves fan, who also enjoyed gardening and farming.

Survivors include his daughter Anne D. Heilig (Joe); son Steve Derrick (Beverly); grandsons Bryant Heilig (Paige), Tyler Heilig (Callie); great grandchildren Jenson, Caroline, and Thomas; and sister Flora Onley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Doris Wilhelm Derrick, brother Charles "Bud" Derrick; sister Helen Caton.

A memorial service for Harry "June" Derrick will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1028 St. John's Rd., Irmo, SC, 29063. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, or Lutheran Hospice, P.O. Box 805, White Rock, SC, 29177. Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
