Durward “Woody” Courtland Cecil
On June 2, 2018, 87 year old loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Durward “Woody” Courtland Cecil went to meet his Heavenly Father and be reunited with his late wife, Edna Joyce Cecil, in the Kingdom of God. Born and raised in Ohio, Woody enlisted in the Navy and began his career as a Navy pilot. While in the military, he showed his wife and young family the world, from Florida to California to Iceland to Virginia. After retirement, Woody had a very successful second career as a moving consultant with Allied Van Lines in Pensacola, Florida. Woody spent his last years in the loving home of his daughter and son-in-law, Terri and David Ivey in Lexington, SC before passing away peacefully at Wellmore Senior Care of Lexington. He is also survived by daughter and son-in-law, Becki and Peter Elmer, son Gary, 6 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service, Friday, June 15, 2018, 9:00 a.m. at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Chaplain John Lopez will officiate.
