David Allen was born on April 30, 1943 to the late Ola Lee Allen in Camden, Alabama and was raised by his grandparents, the late Frank and Ella Mae Allen.
He attended Camden Academy in Wilcox County and graduated in the class of 1961. At an early age, he became a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. He moved to Queens, New York shortly after graduating high school and was employed by Waste Management, of Westbury, NY as a dedicated truck driver for 43 years until retiring at the age of 65. While in New York, he married his longtime sweetheart Marie Smith on January 12, 2005. In July 2006, they relocated in Lexington, South Carolina where they met many dear friends. Affectionately known as “Uncle David” he had a love for his collection of trucks and motorcycles. He also loved blues music and watching westerns.
David Allen departed this life on Friday, November 15, 2019 in Lexington, SC. He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and sister, Mary Williams of Jacksonville, Florida.
David leaves to cherish his memories to his loving and devoted wife, Marie Allen; children, Michelle Robinson and David Allen, Jr.; stepson, Kwesi Smith (Patricia); 1 grandson, DeMarcus; sister, Jennette Hardley; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing neighbors, and friends.
