Bessie Evelyn Starnes

 Known by her family and friends as Evelyn, she never met a stranger.  Born May 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Mabel Fallaw Hicks Sharpe and Colie Dowd and her beloved Pa, Willie Horace Sharpe, Sr.  On May 29, 1950 she married her only love of 67 years, Johnnie O. Starnes.  Together they traveled with the Air Force, living in many places. 

  From their union were born eight children, unfortunately, only three are surviving, Gwendolyn C. Lee, Phyllis S. Grandy and Darlene Worthy (Wallace), 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

  She was predeceased by two sons, Wendell Curtis and Stanley Horace, along with three other precious Angels, and a son-in-law, John Wayne Grandy.

  Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Barr-Price Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lybrand-Rikard Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
