Lexington - A memorial service celebrating the life of Bert McArthur Clamp, 77, will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church, 2373 Calks Ferry Road, Lexington, SC. Family visitation will be at 12:30 at the church prior to the service.
Bert went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2019. Born in Gilbert, SC on April 14, 1942 he was the son of the late Henry Reedy Clamp and Pearl Lybrand Clamp. Bert was the youngest of their seven children. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Marrene Long and Ruby Gant, and son, Brett Alan Clamp. Surviving family members are his devoted wife of 57 years, Bonny Ballington Clamp, daughters, Tammy Whittle (Mark) and Andrea Clamp (Tim Darby), son, Chris Clamp (Amy), granddaughters, Christa and Ashlyn Clamp, grandson, Raden Prewett, great grandsons, Bayde and Crosson Clamp, sister, Betty Soles, brothers, Donald Clamp (Janette), Curtis Clamp (Doris) and Wayne Clamp (Gladys). Bert was a true family man and dearly loved his family.
His hobbies and interests included classic cars, his 56 Chevy BelAir, his 84 Monte Carlo SS, landscaping, collecting antique farm implements and doing things outdoors in nature. Bert was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan and had many collectables.
He had many occupations through the years including tanker driver for Edisto Farms Dairy, Clamp’s Gulf Station owned by his brother, Ted Koon Construction, a bulldozing and land-clearing business and he was part-owner of Lexington Pallet Company.
Bert’s family would like to thank all those who visited him in the hospital, sent cards, prepared food and called to express their sincere concerns. The many thoughts and prayers on his behalf are truly appreciated.
The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Providence Health for their kindness and good care of Bert during his recent hospitalizations.
