Randy Michael Baker, affectionately known as Rooster, passed away on March 20, 2024, at the age of 64. Randy was born on June 14, 1959, in Walterboro, SC. He was a devoted father, lovingly remembered by his daughters, Mercedez Smith (Kevin Smith) of Killeen, Texas, and Kortney Young (Matthew Young) of Anderson, SC.

Randy had a deep love for everything South Carolina Gamecocks, and for baseball. He spent countless hours umpiring games from T-ball to the college level. Randy found great joy in helping players learn and develop their skills on the field. His passion for baseball was evident to all who knew him.

An enthusiastic dog lover, Randy cherished his granddogs, Momo and Zuko, treating them as beloved members of the family. He had a natural talent for connecting with people and never met a stranger. Randy’s professional career within the car business spanned various roles, from insurance and finance to buying and selling. His enthusiasm for life and his ability to connect with others made him a beloved figure in his professional and personal circles.

Randy's vibrant personality and genuine interest in others endeared him to all who knew him. He had a knack for creating nicknames for everyone he met, a testament to his playful spirit and unique charm. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In addition to his daughters, Randy is survived by his sister, Deborah Hill, of Walterboro, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sue and Clarence Baker.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
