Gary Waln Obituary

Gary Michael Waln, 68, of Lexington, S.C passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, surrounded by his two loving daughters, Aubrie Bundrick and Amber Lawson; as well as the love of his life, Sheree Powell; and his sons-in-law, Kenneth Bundrick and Billy Roth.

Surviving include his two younger brothers, Alan Waln and Brett Waln; sister-in-law, Dorothy Waln; granddaughters, Kylee Woodard and Kaitlyn Lawson; grandson, Dylan Woodard; and his beloved pets, his goat, Sugar, dog,  Gator; and cats, Babydoll and Big Guy.

He was predeceased by the mother of his children, Freddie Derrick Waln.

Gary Michael Waln was born in Miami, Florida on April 16, 1956 and he was the son of Milo Wayt Waln and Joan Pinnelli Waln. Gary moved to Lexington, S.C with his family in 1965.

Gary had a zest for life that was second to none and lived a life full of good times and fun. He had many interests over the years including Clemson Football, horses, studying martial arts in the Dojo, traveling, playing his guitar and singing, but his true passion was always the pool game. His love for pool began in Miami, Florida where he spent much of his free time, on the table at a local pool hall, called “The Eight Ball”. Gary carried his love for the game, particularly 9 Ball, throughout his entire life and even used the energy that he had left at the end of his life, to stand up next to the table that he loved.

Gary had the ability to light up a room and his upbeat, positive personality inspired all those around him and even those that did not know him found strength and comfort in his music and videos. He loved to laugh, he loved to party, and he loved to have fun. Gary died the same way that he had lived, like a ball of fire, grateful for every sunrise and breath that he was given. He was a true fighter and showed unimaginable strength during his nearly 10-year cancer battle and survived many years past what his doctors anticipated. He even made it to his 68th birthday on April 16, 2024, as he promised us he would. He will be missed and will always be remembered by the family and friends that love him so much.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for his family at a later date. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
