William Hazel Kneece, age 77, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, while holding the hands of his granddaughters. William had battled dementia for the past two years. Born March 31, 1940, in Batesburg, S.C., William was the son of Plato and Ethelyn Kneece. He had lived in West Columbia since 1960 and retired from Acme Boot Company in 1986. William’s most treasured moments in life were spending time with his three granddaughters Micah, Jaden and Ava. He will forever be remembered for his constant kindness, compassion, hugs and kisses.
He is survived by his two daughters: Melanie (Dean) Infinger of North Charleston, S.C. and Sheila (Wade) Caughman of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren: Christian, Carly, Micah, Jaden and Ava; brother, Plato (Joyce) Kneece of Batesburg; sister, Linda Boozer of Batesburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Lynn Brink Goodman. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gloria Stills and Mary Eva Spence.
A very special thank you to the compassionate caregivers and staff at Colonial Gardens along with the wonderful nurses and techs at Palmetto Baptist Hospital. Thank you for being angels.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Barr-Price Funeral Home in Lexington, SC, at 11:00 am. Family will greet friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jubilee Academy. Jubilee Academy is a faith based organization in Columbia, working to turn the hearts and lives of inner-city children, youth and families towards Christ and academic excellence.
