Ronald “Ronnie” J Palumbo, Sr.  passed away on July 7, 2017 at the age of 74 surrounded by his family.

Ron was born in Allentown, NJ in 1943 and lived most of his life in Hamilton Township, before moving to Florence, NJ and then to Lexington SC in 2013.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Jim” Palumbo and Elizabeth “Betty” Johnson Palumbo and his brother Robert Palumbo. Ron was the devoted husband of Maria Colaneri Palumbo for 37 years and the loving father of Ronald J. Palumbo, Jr. and his wife Sandra Bobik Palumbo, Michael J. Palumbo, Allan J. Palumbo, Paula M. Washenberger and her husband Chris Washenberger, and Elizabeth I. Zammarrelli and her husband Samuel Zammarrelli, III.  He was the cherished grandfather to Marisa Palumbo, Tim Palumbo, Rowan Campbell, Samuel Zammarrelli, IV, Joseph Zammarrelli, Daniel Washenberger, and Michael Zammarrelli.  Ron is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Jimmy and Diane Palumbo and Gene and Carol Palumbo in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Ron was a 1961 graduate of Hamilton High West and graduated from Rider University with a degree in business and accounting. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant in private practice for 45 years. Ron was an active member of the Hamilton Township Community as a coach in Sunnybrae Little League, Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth Baseball Leagues. He was a long time member of the Hamilton Township Republican Club.  He served on the Hamilton Township Planning Board and the School Board.  He was also an elected member of the Hamilton Township Council for several years. Ron was a past member of the Italian American Sportsman Club. 

Most of all Ron loved family, good food, friends, cigars and spending his happiest days in Ortley Beach at the Jersey Shore. He will be remembered for special sense of humor and his generosity. 

Memorial contributions can be made to The Sunshine Foundation, The Oliver Gospel Mission or your preferred charity.   A celebration of life is planned for a future date.
