Robert E. "Bob" Swindler was born November 11, 1948 in Columbia, SC to the late Nellie Louise Young, of Columbia, and James Perry Swindler, of Ridge Spring, SC. Mr. Swindler died on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
He was a graduate of Eau Claire High School and Midlands Tech. As a US Navy veteran, Mr. Swindler had served aboard the US Trout (SS 566), USS Chivo (SS 343) and the USS Seahorse (SSN 669). He went on to work for the Department of Mental Health for 45 years as a computer programmer. Bob worked at events at the Colonial Life arena, USC baseball and football games. He was a Boy Scout Leader for 20 years and a long time member of the American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Terri Conrad Swindler; sons James and Cory Swindler; grandsons Austin, Alexander, and Burns; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Ronald, Magaline, Mary Jewel, Paul, John, and Charlie.
A memorial service for Mr. Swindler will be held 3 o'clock, Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
