Nancy Jo (Corley) Sharpe

Services for Nancy Jo Corley Sharpe will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church with Pastor Wade Roof officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Tabor Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hospice.

Nancy was surrounded by her family at home when her 5 year struggle with various illnesses came to an end on April 21, 2017. She was 79 years old and adored by many.

Nancy was the daughter of the late Earl Claude Corley and Claudia Hendrix Corley of West Columbia. She graduated from Brookland Cayce High School. She later married her high school sweetheart, Charles Sharpe. They were happily married for 59 years. Nancy worked at the South Carolina Employment Security Commission for several years and then enjoyed being a homemaker and loving mother to her 2 children, Kristi and Todd.

Nancy was a long time member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where she was a youth advisor for 12 years and taught precious 5 year olds in Sunday School for 40 years. She loved working in her yard making beautiful arrangements for family and friends. She also loved to spend a "Girls Day" Shopping.

Nancy adored her family and loved having everyone together for Sunday lunch. Her 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren were the loves of her life. The past 5 years have been a roller coaster of various illnesses. She was accustomed to taking care of others in their time of need, not being taken care of. She handled this part of her life with faith, courage, dignity and an amazing sense of humor. She was a true Lady. A lady always knows when it is time to leave.

The family has been so blessed to have Nora West in their lives. She took wonderful care of Nancy and has become an extended family member. Many thanks to the diligent staff at Lutheran Hospice for their talents and skills during emotional times for families. A heartfelt thanks to Robin Wolfe and Janice.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Charles M. Sharpe of West Columbia, children, Kristi Sharpe Hall (Harris) of Irmo, Todd Sharpe (Holly) of West Columbia, grandchildren, Wes Hall (Kellie) of Hiigh Point, NC, Ashleigh Hall Christine (Mike) of Lexington, and Hanna Sharpe of West Columbia, great-grands, Whitman and Kensington Hall, Kaylee and Claire Christine, brother, Homer Corley (Agnes) of Lexington, and sister-in-law, Harriet Corley (Ralph).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claudia and Earl Corley, sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Hub Ballington, Edith and J. P. Thompson, brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Beverly Corley, and brother, Ralph Corley, all of West Columbia.
