Myrtie L. Heywood gained her angel wings after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on Monday, May 8, 2017. Born on August 10, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Elzie V. Lowman and Pearl Keisler Lowman.
A member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, she worked for Horsemon Dolls until they went out of business, then went on to work and retired from Hamrick's when it was located at Outlet Point.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Hoy Heywood; daughter Susan Heywood and her partner Lois; grandsons Chandler Heywood, Krystofer Heywood-Powell; siblings Jessie V. Lowman (Vernelle), Daniel Lowman, Cecil Lowman (Rachel), Eula Price (SJ), Bula Matthews (William), Harold Lowman (Lindell); many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Roy Lowman; and sister-in-law Thera Lowman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtie Heywood will be held 3 o'clock, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. The family will greet friends Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6 until 8 o'clock at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. She will be carried to her final resting place in the church cemetery by her nephews Craig Lowman, Michael Lowman, Jeffery Lowman, Neil Matthews, Dexter Matthews, Eric Price, and Jessie V. Lowman, Jr.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Parkinson's Research Foundation at ParkinsonHope.org, or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation at michaeljfox.org
