Mary Estelle Nix

Mary Estelle Nix, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Born in Hell Hole Swamp, SC on October 2, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Walter Calhoun Morris and Elmer Brown Morris.

A member of St. Andrews Baptist Church, she had retired from Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School. She loved her family, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends with cooking, singing, and yodeling. Mrs. Nix also loved her cats.

Survivors include her son Charlie L. Nix, III (Diane); daughters Christine Nix Hall (Mike), Betti Joe Nix Williams (Bill); six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister Lois Campbell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Lockwood Nix, Jr.; brother Wallace R. Morris; half brother Harold; and half sister Betty.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nix will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 9th, at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, SC Chapter, 140 Stoneridge Dr., Columbia, SC, 29210.

The family is grateful for the quality care she received during her twelve years at Lexington Extended Care.
