Marilyn Moore Howard

Marilyn Jane Howard, 72, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Born April 1, 1945, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Thomas Clyburn and Sarah Margaret Catoe Clyburn.

A 1963 graduate of Columbia High School, Marilyn was a lovely woman, but it was her heart of gold that made her such a beloved woman of God. Her outward beauty emanated from her inward beauty of heart and soul. To her four grandchildren, whom she loved and nurtured from the moment they were born, she was known as "Mimi". In her role as babysitter, she was best known as “Aunt Janey” not only to the children she tended but also to their parents. She molded the character of so many children whose lives she touched at an early age with her stern hand, warm heart, and Godly values. In the children she nurtured, she instilled in them a love of God, a love of their fellow man, and a gratitude instead of an entitlement for their many blessings.

Marilyn's love for her family drove her to endure the lengthy fight against cancer that amazed everyone. She loved her family deeply and up until the end would show up for all school events, and family gatherings, no matter how hard her struggle was to get there. Those who loved and knew her will forever have a special place for her in their hearts.

Survivors include her daughter Kelli Lozano (Carlos); son Chad Lambert; four  grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Moore; and sisters Myrtle Shealy, and  Sara Springs.

A memorial service will be held 3 o'clock, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northside Christian Academy 4347 Sunset Blvd. Lexington, SC 29072.
