Lexington--Linda Potts Varner, 69, was welcomed into the Church Triumphant on October 6, 2017, in Lexington, SC. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Larry Cole Varner, Sr.; a daughter, Valerie Varner Porth (Toby); a son, Larry Cole Varner, Jr. (Lorren); and eight beloved grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Addie Grier, Yeats, Eva Claire, Hayden, Savannah, Hailey, Ellison and Molly. Also surviving are her sisters, Barbara Potts Wilkoc (Ron, deceased), Connie Potts Parks (Ed), and a brother, Bryan Richard Potts (Rachel). She was preceded in death by her parents, Helyn and Richard Potts, of Columbia.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Mrs. Varner served as an assistant director of the Council on Aging of the Midlands for 17 years. Voted "wittiest" in her senior year of high school, she always maintained her fun loving nature, sense of humor and zest for life. Her grandchildren adored "MeMe", and they cherished every moment they enjoyed together.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, October 9 at 2:00 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo. Visitation with family and friends will take place one hour before. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, P.O. Box 7275, Columbia, S.C., or the charity of one's choice.
