John Patrick Flanagan

John went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday evening, June 21st, 2017.  John was born on November 8, 1978 in Fairmont, WV.  After attending Harbison West Elementary and Irmo High School through 1997, he graduated from The University of South Carolina in 2001. He was a Manager of Communications at Southeastern Freightlines in Lexington, SC, where he started part time while in school and served for 19+ years.  Next to his love of Christ, John’s passion centered around his family and church. John exemplified the perfect example of a loving and devoted husband and father. His family was his greatest joy  #FlanaganFour. John served as a Deacon at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday School, worked with children and youth, and gave of his time and talents in countless ways to further the Kingdom and body of Christ. John was smart, quick witted, successful, and determined. He was considered the grill master and loved his F3 brotherhood.  He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 15 years, Rebekah Flanagan, and their two children Jack Flanagan and Rylee Flanagan; father and mother Robert and Diana Flanagan, West Columbia, SC; brother Andrew Flanagan and his wife Cindi, Harrisburg, PA; sister Schaine Balyeat and her husband Joel, their children Sofia, Bradley, and Madelyn Brents, John, Kirie, Andrew, Michael, and Audriana Balyeat, Norman, OK. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Don and Theresa Courtney, Irmo, SC;  sister-in-law Sarah Williams and her husband Anthony, their children Davis and Colin, Greenville, SC. The family would like to thank the many friends for their wonderful love and support.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church Youth Ministry fund, 5503 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072. A Celebration Memorial Service will be held at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church Saturday, June 24th at 1pm. Nursery provided.  Visitation to follow in the church gym.
