Mr. Moore was a member of the Detroit Press Club, an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, and was a past president of the Industrial Editors Association of Detroit.  During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946 while serving as a radio operator with the Combat Engineers in the Philippines.  He held a B.A. degree from Albion College where he met his wife of 53 years, Carol Conway. He enjoyed baseball and remained an avid Detroit Tiger fan through out his life.

A native of Detroit, Mr. Moore was also a long time resident of Farmington Hills, Michigan.  He and his wife, Carol Conway Moore, retired to Howell, MI in 2001.  His wife pre-deceased him in 2004.  He then relocated with his daughter to Irmo, SC.  He is survived by four children: Diane Moore of Irmo, SC; Susan (Philip) Blough of South Haven, MI; Allison Timpe of Irmo, SC; David (Tina) Moore of Westland, MI; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate, dedicated home care personnel, Renee, Sherry, and Marjorie, who have helped Jerry (and the family) through out the years.

Mr. Moore will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Michigan at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The SC State Library Talking Book Services, Albion College, or the charity of your choice.
