Welcome to the memorial page for

Janelle Glenn Green

October 6, 2017

West Columbia-Janelle Glenn Green received her new and perfect body in heaven on October 6, 2017 (2 Cor 5:1).  Her earthly struggles with Multiple Sclerosis and bladder cancer are over, but her strength, determination and profound faith in God continues to leave a legacy that touches many.

She was born April 27, 1946 to Luther Gene Glenn and Lizzie Hite Glenn in Lexington County, SC.  She was in the first graduating class of Airport High School in 1964.  She met Rick Green in the fall of 1964, and after a whirlwind 6-week romance they married.  They were married almost 53 years and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.  Alan Green and Leslie (children Meredith and Jenna), Scott Green and Leah Green (children Colt and Eva).

Janelle was an active stay-at-home mom who was always proud and supportive of her children and grandchildren.  She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a prayer warrior who maintained a card and phone ministry long after MS confined her to home.

Throughout her lifetime, she remained an inspiration to all who knew her, meeting her situation with faith, poise and determination.  Her ever-present smile, concern for others and dedication to family, friends and church were a testimony to her love of Jesus.  Today, she is rejoicing and serving God in eternity- often running wherever she goes (Isaiah 40:31).

She is survived by her devoted husband, Rick Green, children and grandchildren, sister Betty Vining and her many friends and extended family.  She was well-loved by her extraordinary caregiver Helen Craft and her lifelong friend, Mary Anne Allread.  She is predeceased by her parents, her brother L.D. Glenn and sister Nevelyn Glenn Shealy.

Memorial services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 2003 Charleston Highway at 2:00PM, Sunday October 8, with visitation immediately following the service.  If desired, memorials may be given to Trinity’s Hurricane Relief fund, the American Red Cross or the charity of your choice.
