A funeral service for SFC (Ret.) James Stephen Warr, 73, will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Green Hill Baptist, 1800 Augusta Rd., West Columbia, SC. Burial with military honors will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 2 until 4 pm, at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
Born June 25, 1943, in Savannah, GA, he was a son of the late Edward James Warr and Katherine Galletta Warr. SFC (Ret.) Warr proudly served in the US Army for 24 years. Over the course of his military career, he served during Vietnam and was awarded numerous medals and honors, to include the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. Upon retirement, he went on to work for the state of South Carolina.
Survivors include his daughters Kathy Farrell (Chris), Dina Pike (Jay), Tammy Brunson (Chris), Michelle Couch; son Steve Warr; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Warr; and granddaughter Santana Berry.
