Edgar C Umhoefer

Memorial services with military honors for Edgar C. Umhoefer,  91, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gilbert.  Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel.

Mr. Umhoefer passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.  The son of the late William and Jennie Sanders Umhoefer, he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, EAA Associate member, the National Wild Life Federation and a Navy Veteran of WWII.

During his time of service  in the Navy, he learned discipline and gained  deep devotion and patriotism for his country.  He was an  avid animal lover and  enjoyed hunting and fishing with  his son, Ricky and son-in-law, Robbie.  He loved working on cars, especially the time spent with his son, Donnie, working on his Model T.   He gladly shared his skills and talents of woodworking with daughter, Susan through their special times together.    All memories that his family will cherish.

A devoted father and grandfather, surviving are his children, Donald R. and Richard E. Umhoefer, daughter, Susan Umhoefer Zimmer and her husband, Robbie;  8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley McArdle; special caregiver, Heather Ciarcia and his faithful dogs, Indy, Ginger and Bella.  He was predeceased by his wife, Janet Baldwin Umhoefer, brothers, William, Raymond, Leonard, Donald and David and sister, Mary Ranf.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his honor may be made to Wildlife Conservation, 2700 Greenway Blvd, Ste. 1000, Brookland MN 55430.
