Betty Kneece Jackson

Betty Kneece Jackson, 89, of West Columbia passed away on July 27, 2017. Betty was born on May 19, 1928 in Gilbert, SC to Daniel and Lota McLeod Kneece.  In 1953, Betty married Edgar Brown Jackson of Rock Hill, SC.  They were happily married for 34 years, until Edgar's death in 1987.

Betty graduated from Gilbert High School, received her Bachelor's degree from Winthrop College and her Master's degree from the University of South Carolina.  Betty taught in the Lexington County school system for many years, before serving as assistant principal at Northside Middle School in West Columbia until she retired in 1986.

Betty was a charter member of Providence Presbyterian Church in West Columbia. Family and friends were Betty's lifelong passion and delight.  

Betty is survived by her sister, Mildred Suter (William Guy) of Barnwell, her brother, David Kneece (Margie) of Gilbert, her daughter, Janie Jones (Morgan) of Columbia, her son, Jud Jackson (Ellie) of Gig Harbor, WA, her granddaughter, Kara Jones of Alexandria, VA and grandson, David Jones of West Columbia.

She was preceded in death by parents John Daniel and Lota McCleod Kneece, brother, James Daniel Kneece, daughter, Lota Jane Kneece, and husband, Edgar Jackson.  She  leaves behind many loving relatives and friends.

 Visitation will be held at the Providence Presbyterian Church, 1112 Hummingbird Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169  on August 2, 2017 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM, followed by the  service at 1:00 PM. Dr. Michael T. Bragan will officiate.  Interment will follow the service at Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Providence Presbyterian Church, 1112 Hummingbird Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169.
